About PDFTools

PDFTools is a small, independent project building document utilities that respect your privacy by never uploading your files.

Why we built it

Most online PDF converters upload your document to a server you know nothing about. That is a poor trade for a task as routine as merging two pages. Modern browsers can do the work themselves, so PDFTools does exactly that: every merge, split, rotate, compression and conversion runs locally on your machine.

What we offer

Thirteen working tools cover the everyday jobs: merging, splitting, extracting and deleting pages, rotating, compressing, and converting between PDF and JPG, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and plain text. Every tool is free, needs no account, and has no watermark.

How it is funded

PDFTools is free and supported by clearly labelled advertising. Ads never interrupt a conversion, never sit inside the workspace, and never require you to wait to download your file.

Honest limitations

We say what our tools cannot do. Scanned PDFs have no selectable text, so text-based conversions need OCR, which is not available yet. Compression rasterises pages, and Word, Excel and PowerPoint exports focus on content rather than exact layout.
